Could you project manage our purpose campaign?
We are seeking a Purpose Communications Project Manager to support the delivery of our purpose-driven campaign and advise and deliver our purpose storytelling and communications. The consultant will be instrumental in amplifying our team's social impact initiatives, sustainability efforts, ocean health campaign, and community engagement programs. They will deliver a compelling purpose campaign that hits our mission, values, and community impact, along with guiding our creative communications across multiple platforms.
Your brief will be to bring to life the purpose work we’ll be undertaking as a team. You will project manage the delivery of the plan, work with any external agencies we may engage with, ensuring consistent and impactful messaging across press, partners, and stakeholders, demonstrating our leadership in both competitive sailing and purpose-driven advocacy.
This is no ordinary consultancy role! Due to the nature of offshore yacht racing the hours we work can be unpredictable and are often outside of traditional hours including evenings, weekends, and overnight hours if an event time zone requires it. Extensive travel will be required around major events, with up to two weeks overseas travel at a time, if not more.

This Purpose Communications Project Manager role will support and enhance the climate justice and belonging campaign led by Francesca Clapcich. Alongside the racing schedule, this initiative focuses on promoting environmental sustainability, social equity, and inclusive community-building within the sailing world and beyond. The campaign aims to drive awareness and actionable change, ensuring that everyone, regardless of background, feels a sense of belonging, while also advocating for climate justice.

Key deliverables
• Project manage all elements of the purpose campaign, including external agencies, including delivery of our education program, workshops, advocacy platform, and activations.
• Develop and implement a purpose-driven communications plan, and editorial calendar, aligned with our team’s brand, values, and goals.
• Create compelling content, including press releases, blog posts, social media campaigns, and reports, to highlight our community engagement, sustainability, and social impact efforts.
• Collaborate with the Social & Digital Content Creator and the Sport Communications Consultant to ensure cohesive storytelling across all platforms.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including our sponsor, 11th Hour Racing, other partners, and suppliers, to align messaging and amplify purpose-driven initiatives.
• Manage relationships with media, influencers, and key partners to generate positive coverage of our team’s impact and advocacy work.
• Identify and execute storytelling opportunities that connect fans, partners, and the wider community to our purpose.
• Support crisis communications and reputation management efforts related to purpose-driven initiatives.
• Measure and report on the effectiveness of our purpose campaign and guide the optimization of the strategy and engagement.
• To be the ‘eyes and ears’ of our organization in regards to all things around purpose, social justice and ocean health, advising on talking points and partner organizations we may want to engage with.
Your experience
You are likely to ….
• Have a bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, sustainability or a related field, desired but not a necessity.
• 5+ years of experience in purpose-driven campaigns with communications, CSR communications, and brand storytelling expertise.
• Excellent knowledge of and experience working in the USA is desirable (France and Italy are secondary territories).
• Strong writing, copy editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate impact data into engaging narratives.
• Experience working in sport, nonprofit, or purpose-driven organizations is a plus.
• Excellent media relations skills and a ‘little black book’ of media contacts across social impact and the environment..
• Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external stakeholders, often while working remotely.
• A passion for sport, community impact, and purpose-driven initiatives.
• Ability to speak, read, and write effectively in English is a pre-requisite; additional languages, particularly Italian and French, a bonus.
• Due to the nature of the team being based internationally there will be an expectation for flexibility in working hours to fit multiple timezones.

About this role
Anticipate annual fees to be in the region of $80K-$100k.
This is not an employed position. The role is structured around agreed deliverables and outcomes, with flexibility in how and when the work is completed.
You’ll work with us as an independent contractor, invoicing monthly for your services. While the scope of work is significant and may require close to full-time commitment at certain periods, you will remain free to manage your schedule and to work with other clients, provided agreed deliverables are met.
